Yes, there are thousands of websites offering “free” music downloads. Unfortunately, many of them tell lies, suck you in to register and suddenly you’re downloading something like a “Music Manager” program to your computer full of spyware or a virus/trojan. Or, you find out that you have to pay something first and after that, the downloads are “free”. That’s not counting Torrent downloads, although many of those are OK, (if illegal).
Two sites I’ve tried today that work well and do what they say are:

Don’t forget to make sure you have some decent and updated security software on your computer (at least anti-virus, anti-spyware, and a firewall). There are plenty of good free ones available so there’s no excuse not to have them.
