Last night we were outside. Watching the bright sky, waiting for the Moon-rise. I saw many shooting stars; of course this was not the first time. When I was kid, I believed that we could make a wish whenever we saw a ‘falling’ star. I was interested in learning about the planets. Read from all kinds books and astronomy software. Also watched documentaries, like “Walking With Monsters”, about the beginning of our planet. Amazing pictures of scary creatures that lived even before the Dinosaurs.
I learned that stars have scientific names as well as their common ones. For example, the brightest star (apart from the Sun), is Sirius. Its scientific name is Alpha Canis Majoris and so on…
We only have a pair of small binoculars to watch the stars, It would be great to have a real telescope. It would also be nice if there were more public observatories and planetariums in Indonesia. There are none in Bali.
